Giving up my iPod for a Walkman →
buyhercandy:hardlyinventive: Ah, technology. Look how far we’ve come! Writes the 13-year-old reviewer of today using yesteryear’s gadget: It took me three days to figure out that there was another side to the tape. That was not the only naive mistake that I made; I mistook the metal/normal switch on the Walkman for a genre-specific equaliser, but later I discovered that it was in fact used...

A note from Aunty re: The 19th Meredith Music... →
semisetadrift: I love the new splash page for the Meredith Music Festival website. The Notlongnow Seniors Resort! In Lakes Entrance! As a former resident of Gippsland, I can confirm for you that this is perfect. If you’re at the end of your life, Lakes Entrance just reassures you that there’s nothing to live for. And that mosquitoes can grow to the size of a dinner plate. I particularly enjoy...

Countdown Playlist
My partner and I are going on a trip around Europe for 2 months in October, and it’s got to that point now where it’s so close… yet still so far. In an attempt to soothe the wait I’ve made a playlist of songs either about the excitement of getting away, or the battle with sticking out the time until we head off. Granted… some of my interpretations were pretty loose...

thepfg breaks his silence on the iranian elections...
thepfg: Apparently, only around 1,000 people protested in Iran today, a figure well down on previous days and apparently attributable to a promised crack-down against said protesters. I was watching Fox News (amongst other news) (as I sometimes do - it is important to see what the other side is up to) to hear the ramblings of Hannity about how Obama needed to denounce the regime more strongly...

heute-und: inthetrees: And I’m proud of it. My partner had an article run on the back page of today’s Age newspaper, and online, about voting in the Triple J Hottest 100 of all time. She even had a little headshot run in the print version. I take no accountability in her music taste, but in her defence, she does sing along to Of Montreal, Modest Mouse, Hercules & Love Affair, etc. in the...

Beastie Boys - Live at Bonnaroo 2009 →
This is a pretty top quality crowd recording of the Beastie Boys at Bonnaroo, and it’s a fantastic set. The Beastie Boys are always great live, and mix it up a bit… No Sleep til Brooklyn and Shake Your Rump were particular highlights for me on here. The set also features the new song, Too Many Rappers. Nas joined them on the stage for this track.

buyhercandy: So my thesis supervisor asked me a while ago whether I thought he should get a Twitter account or not, and I was trying to explain to him how important it can be as large events are unfolding. I sent him a link around 1am last night to the #IranElection hashtag on Twitter, and this is what he just sent back: Thanks for this. The material seems concentrated on stopping Twitter...
